Easels were set, canvasses stood and paints were primed as Bombay Drawing Room’s art-for-everyone supremo, Snehal Patil, came to Mumbai Aljamea (Marol) on successive Saturdays to take standards 5-7 through an introduction to painting session.
Over the weekend of March 10th, students were guided through a step-by-step painting, and ended having a completed artwork canvas to take home with them. Students were joined by senior faculty members including Masʾūl al-ʿĀm, Principal Sh Khuzaima Shahjapurwala. All-in-all, over 100 students and faculty took part over the two weeks and one and all had a grand time picking and mixing, brushing and padding paints until a scene came into gradual focus over the 2 hour session.
For many it was a first time doing any kind of art, for some a first at painting, for some a first on canvas and for others a rekindling of skills left long behind in childhood school. For everyone, though, it was something they very much look forward to doing again in the not too distant future.
