The ten days of mourning better known as al-ashara al-mubāraka are dedicated to the remembrance of Imam Husain AS the grandson of the prophet Mohammed SAW and the atrocities that befell him in the land of Karbala. Each year, thousands of Dawoodi Bohra faithful gather to commemorate the occasion under the leadership of the 53 RD Dāi al-Mutlaq Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS at a pre-determined location.
This year the proceedings took place in Karachi, where the intellectual discourses imparted by Syedna TUS were centered around the disciplines taught in the syllabus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah.
Al-ashara are of unparalleled significance in the Dawoodi Bohra calendar and are preceded by a years worth of preparation. They are the days marked by an eschewal of all temporal distractions in the dedicated pursuit of knowledge, truth and humanity.
